As a writing fanatic, vintage typewriters make me feel as excited as I did as when I was a kid getting a new Disney princess costume. For a writer who loves all things vintage there can be no better gift than a beautiful classic typewriter - especially the pastel type (see above).
There is something timeless about writing with a pen and paper - I love writing postcards and letters - and after that came the typewriter, a device that still holds the charm of writing by hand. Computers/laptops/tablets/phones are very convenient in our modern world but to be able to sit down and tap the keys of your very own typewriter allows you to be part of the past. Even if you simply use it as a piece of home decor it still adds a little flair of vintage to any room. I even once saw someone suggest you use it as a guestbook at a wedding - what a great idea, have your guests type a letter, seal it in an envelope for you and your partner to open later once all the celebrations have ended. You could even use a vintage suitcase as a place for guests to deposit letters.

Place a typewriter at the end of tables at a wedding and create a paper runner for the table that comes out of the top of the typewriter and runs the full length of the table.

You could even use an old typewriter as a plant pot for a cool vintage feature in your garden. Additionally you could use other office items such a pen holders and file holders as plant pots and create a little scene in your back garden.

If you really wanted to experiment you could use the keys from a typewriter and make accessories such as necklaces, rings, hair bobbles, badges etc. Then the shell of the typewriter could be used as storage for books, stationary etc. in your office area.

For those with more than one typewriter why not make a wall display out of them? This idea may be a hit with writers as it allows you to express your own personality in your home decor.

For those with a great creative flair try giving your typewriter a total make-over - think wrapping paper, stickers, paint etc. Then it can become a centre piece in a room, or could be used as a book rest.
And of course, if your typewriter is still in good nick well then you can just use it to write...
